This page, which I had designed earlier, needed to be optimized and reviewed for more direct targetted traffic. Even though a lot of effort is focused on proper structure and search engine visibility during the coding process, the content has to be optimized and revised in order to be optimal for crawlers and spyders.
Choosing the Color Palette
Construction colors are black and orange. This specific company specializes in dirt related services and from that arrive brown shades of dirt. Light gray is a choice for the logo and navigation text. This was used to lower the contrast and increase readability.
Fisht is a mountain name of the business owner's origin town. I was asked to incorporate that mountian peak with a tractor. In a very subtle way the mountain could be seen under the backhoe arm's negative space. Several attempts at type treatment and elements used delivered this logo for the company.
Multi-Level navigation is always a challenge and there are plenty of choices to solve it. In this case it was obvious that many services are divided by sub categories and therefore main menu items. Current page is highlighted in bright orange color from the palette choice.
Call to Action
Call to action is utmost important element of any commercial web page. This page is not an exception and was equipped with such feature. Response to such call in this case brings the potential client to an estimate request form.
Three Steps of SEO
The page is optimized several times including major content and structure optimization for better search engine visibility. Different approaches and strategies are used at different times including, but not limited to, keywords, meta tags, descriptions, & information hierarchy.
Content Keywords & Key Phrases
First things first: employ some keywords directly into the page content. In this case the decision is to place them near the footer of the home page in order to direct major traffic.
Though not primary, I believe meta tags are still important for a few search engines. Keywords used in page content are placed there. The description meta tag is also important, as most search engines will display it with search results and highlight the words that matched search criteria.
