Web Page Development
Recently re-designed and published web page of an existing business site. Added functionality, clear call-to-action, functional navigation, and of course contact forms. This project required an elegant and "breezy" feel. The calm color palette in contrast with vivid Hawaiian landscapes makes visitors crave the true Maui experience.
Starting from the old page design
A screen shot of the old page design. Clearly designed with table-based layout and invisible to search engines. Much content came from the original page while the photography was replaced with modern, large-view photographs. The majority of content was re-typed as it is necessary for optimal readability by search engines and handicapped visitors.
Choosing the Color Palette
Very breezy and fluffy was the condition given by the client and confirmed by my visit to Maui. Colors came naturally from the photos taken directly in the surrounding areas of the location. Some semi-transaprent whites and blacks are added for contrast.
Call to Action
"Reserve yours today" is the message of the page and it is outlined in the call-to-action button.
Upon click on the call-to-action, the visitor is presented with a database driven availability calendar from online booking lead provider. Not much control over the layout, but it doesn't seem to contradict the color palette terribly which only supports my initial color choices. This feature is espessially useful for clients as it provides them with live feed of opened dates for reservation and prevents useless inquieries to the site owner. As you see, they are booked for a while...
Using sidebar as customer comments wall.
A real customer comments and testimonies area was distributed across the pages in the sidebar area to improve readability. This allows the visitors to view the page content and catch a few others' comments on the side.
Short and sweet, those client responses fill this page with real feedback for new potential as well as relevant content for search engines.
I am the photographer
Last but not least - the photography. I was hired to do this project and to my pleasure provided with a one week trip to Hawaii in order to take professional photographs of the condos and surrounding areas specifically for this web page. Photographs of interiors of the apartments and beautiful sunsets of Maui were on my list of things to capture. Local plants and landscapes were not missed either by my viewfinder. My work is hard...
